The Phantom’s Rose Masquerade Ball

14 February @ 7:30 pm - 11:59 pm
£65

Step into a world of mystery, romance, and theatrical intrigue this Valentine’s Day as The Phantom’s Rose Masquerade Ball arrives at the iconic Birmingham Council House.

Inspired by gothic romance, classic theatre, and fantasy masquerade traditions, this immersive evening invites guests to don a mask and become part of the story. From the moment you arrive beneath the grand chandeliers, you’ll be transported into a living opera house where music, movement, and mystery intertwine.

This is not a seated performance, but an experience designed to be explored. Guests are free to wander, dance, observe, and engage as the night unfolds around them. A live string quartet will provide the soundtrack to the evening, performing a rich mix of classical favourites and modern pop reimagined, creating the perfect atmosphere for elegant dancing across the ballroom floor. Vocal performances and ballet dancers will punctuate the night, building toward a dramatic finale that promises unforgettable moments.

Throughout the evening, guests may encounter hidden notes, riddles, and theatrical interactions inspired by the legend of a Phantom who roams the halls. Prizes are scattered within the mystery, including theatre vouchers and other delights, rewarding those who pay close attention to the whispers of the night.

Every guest arrives masked, adding to the intrigue and romance of the evening. On arrival, guests may also choose a rose to signal their intentions for the night: red for taken, white for open to conversation, or pink for friendship. Participation is entirely optional and designed to be respectful, playful, and inclusive.

The Phantom’s Rose Masquerade Ball is designed for theatre lovers, fantasy fans, romantics, and anyone seeking something truly different from the usual Valentine’s plans. Whether attending as a couple, with friends, or solo, the immersive nature of the event ensures everyone feels part of the story.

Guests are encouraged to dress in gothic, fantasy, romantic, or Phantom-inspired attire, embracing the drama and elegance of a classic masquerade. From flowing gowns to tailored suits, elaborate masks to subtle details, the night celebrates self-expression and creativity.

Each guest will receive a complimentary welcome drink, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available, along with a selection of canapés during the evening. As the focus is on dancing and immersion, guests are advised to dine beforehand.

The event is produced by Bookish & Brash, a Midlands-based company known for creating accessible, story-led fantasy events that celebrate books, theatre, and community. Their previous event, The Midnight Court Soirée, sold out and welcomed over 120 fantasy lovers in full costume.

As the clock ticks toward midnight, the Phantom will retreat to the shadows once more, leaving behind memories of masked dances, stolen glances, and a night at the opera unlike any other.
