DESCRIPTION:Performance\, talk and film showing with legendary HBO Def Jam New York poet Amir Sulaiman. \n\n\n\n\nSoul City Arts presents an evening with globally renowned HBO Def Poetry Jam Amir Sulaiman in our Port Hope warehouse studio. A rare opporunity to spend the evening with a soul-stirring poetry performance\, conversation and more. \nAmir Sulaiman is a three-time Grammy-nominated poet\, producer\, and writer for film and television. He was writer and producer for A24’s award-winning series RAMY\, and Marvel Studios’ IRONHEART alongside Ryan Coogler. \nHis collaboration album with Dave Chappelle\, 8:46\, earned him his first Grammy nomination acclaim from critics and the culture. The following year\, his project with Robert Glasper brought two more Grammy nominations. Sulaiman has demonstrated an ability to shepherd bold\, original storytelling that resonates across audiences. \nHe has performed his works internationally in Belgium\, Senegal\, Saudi Arabia\, Sweden\, Australia\, Iran and the Netherlands\, and now we are privileged to host him at Port Hope. \nJoin us for a special performance\, conversation and film showing of Laying Flowers\, Setting Fires.
