A Michelin-starred restaurant in Nottingham has received a funding boost to help it recover from the effects of the coronavirus crisis.
Alchemilla, in Derby Road, has received the support from Barclays through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILs).
The fine dining restaurant was founded by Alex Bond, who formerly worked at Restaurant Sat Bains, a Nottingham restaurant which has two Michelin stars.
According to Barclays, Alchemilla has received funding to “support working capital requirements”.
Despite being forced to close its restaurant to guests at the height of the coronavirus lockdown, the business introduced a collection service for meals, which proved popular with regular customers.
Alex, director and head chef at Alchemilla, said: “Like a lot of businesses in our industry, the last few months have been very challenging.
“We have looked at ways of innovating to maintain income streams.
“We have also tried to do our bit for the local community and I’m proud to be able to say that we cooked 800 meals a week for four weeks for both QMC and City Hospital.
“This was before joining forces with open kitchens and a distribution charity called Fair Share to produce another 650 meals a week for hospices, shelters and people who were isolating.
“It’s a true example of what is great about our country and how people pull together to support each other.”
