£59k Mercedes Hypercar Being Sold from Birmingham Industrial Estate. One of Only 20 Ever Made

A Mercedes-Benz so rare that only 20 were ever built is currently for sale on an industrial estate in east Birmingham. This is part of a growing trend that’s challenging how luxury cars are bought and sold in the UK.

The 2010 C63 AMG DR520, priced at £58,950, is one of just five estate versions of an ultra-exclusive model that was only available through a single Mercedes dealership when new. It’s now sitting on the forecourt of Quality Cars & Commercials in Garretts Green, surrounded by everyday family cars costing a tenth of the price.

The vehicle represents one of Mercedes’ rarest productions, a factory-tuned collaboration with Brabus that pumped out 520 horsepower from its naturally aspirated V8 engine. Originally finished in factory matte grey and sold exclusively through Mercedes-Benz Brooklands, the car has recently been re-wrapped in its original colour at a cost of nearly £6,000.

The unusual location highlights how independent dealers are increasingly challenging the luxury car establishment. Quality Cars & Commercials operates without manufacturer backing, using its own funds to source vehicles that would traditionally only appear in high-end London showrooms. The business maintains over 150 vehicles ranging from £3,000 runabouts to more exotic models. This showcases a breadth that franchised dealers, restricted by manufacturer quotas, struggle to match.

The DR520’s current asking price also undercuts what similar vehicles fetch through traditional prestige channels, reflecting how independent dealers can operate with lower overheads than marble-floored showrooms. Each vehicle at the Birmingham site receives the highest preparation standards, including fresh MOTs with no advisories and extended warranties.

The shift reflects broader changes in car buying habits, with customers increasingly willing to travel for the right vehicle and service, regardless of postcode. Quality Cars & Commercials reports buyers traveling from Scotland and the South West, drawn by inventory and flexibility that larger operations can’t provide.
