Caremark Solihull is thrilled to announce its selection as a finalist in two categories in the Stars of Social Care Awards: the Outstanding Contribution to Home Care Award and the Inspirational Home Care Manager Award (North). These nominations reflect the company’s dedication to delivering outstanding home care services and its commitment to having a work culture where staff feel valued and empowered.
The Stars of Social Care Awards celebrate exceptional contributions and achievements within the social care sector, recognising organisations and individuals who demonstrate dedication, compassion, and excellence in their roles.
Selected as a finalist for the Inspirational Home Care Manager Award (North) is Caremark Solihull’s Sonjha Young who supports a highly motivated staff team, delivering high-quality, person-centred care and fostering a supportive and effective work environment. In the two years she has been with the business, Sonjha has implemented new approaches to improving care with in-person responses to customer surveys. She has also helped the business become more integrated within the community by setting up volunteering initiatives with Age UK and Dementia Friends, as well as encouraging involvement at local charity events.
The nomination for the Outstanding Contribution to Home Care Award recognises Caremark Solihull’s Kiran Aftab as an exceptionally dedicated Field Care Supervisor who has made a significant and sustained impact on the home care sector. Kiran has shown a remarkable commitment to improving the lives of others, demonstrated by the many occasions where she went beyond the calls of duty. Examples of her loyalty to customers and kind nature include rearranging her family commitments to keep a customer company during a four-hour wait for an ambulance, and building such a trusting rapport with another customer that she helped them leave their house for the first time in over nine years.
Expressing his delight at the recognition, Herkesh Malhi, Managing Director of Caremark Solihull, speaks about the reasons behind the nominations:
“It’s extremely exciting to have two of our incredible staff members recognised as finalists in the prestigious Stars of Social Care Awards.
“In the two years that Sonjha has been with us, she has had a hugely positive impact on the way we interact with our customers. She has created an incredible workplace culture where the team has come together to look after our community. Because of her influence, customers are coming to us with feedback proactively and staff are now offering extra help and even popping in for a cup of tea and chat on their day off.
“Kiran always goes above and beyond to make sure the customers are put first. She has the natural ability to create such strong relationships and always thinks of the little things that make a significant difference to people. These personal touches are what makes her truly exceptional.
“Putting Sonjha and Kiran forward for these awards is our way of showing appreciation for all the hard work they have put into their roles and communities. Regardless of the outcome of these awards, we are so proud that Sonjha and Kiran have been chosen as finalists – it shows just how special they are.”
The awards ceremony takes place on 14th June 2024 at The Marriott Regents Park, London. This event will bring together those who work in social care to honour their contributions to the field.
